Magic Town of Palenque

The Magical Town of Palenque was one day a small community of Choles families who found within the jungle a space to live together. Today, the palm-roofed buildings are reminiscent of the ancient village that stretches between immense mahoganies, chicozapotes, cedars and majestic ceiba trees that represent the sacred tree of the Maya, whose branches support the heavens while their deep roots communicate the world of the living with the underworld. Walk through the shady streets towards the main square exploring the shops that offer beautiful Chiapanecan handicrafts and look for the Lak Puj Kul Textile Museum, where you will be delighted with the collection of typical clothes from Chiapas and the exhibition of the textile manufacturing process.
